My brother Jay picked me up at the airport. Dang! it was good to see him. He had on shorts, and I quickly understood how overdressed I was for the weather. I left rainy cold Portland, and ended up in hot and muggy Dallas. Picked up my duffle, which the baggage handlers had plastered with a big red tag that said "Heavy! Bend knees to lift." :) oops...sorry dudes. We had a quick TexMex meal and went to visit our niece Brooke. Brooke and her husband Brian, have created a beautiful little girl they named Brinley. She's tiny, and adorable. Not really knowing how to introduce myself to my nieces daughter, (grand aunt? great aunt?), we settled on "aunt aunt Laury". She cooed and smiled, so I think she understood.
We headed to Jay and PJ's (PJ is Jays wife). They live "in the country" on Lake Texoma. It was a nice drive and the stars were, as the song says, big and bright. It was still hot, to me anyway, but a breeze was blowing, so not unbearable. We arrived round 9 and I was in bed by 10. Totally exhausted! Got up early, walked with the doggies down by the lake.
Looking forward to hanging out with Jay today and seeing what a day in his life is like. He's a boat builder, and very in demand presently. So it will be cool to see some of his work.
